I’ve not spend enough time with tonneau watches to truly clarify the science of that which makes a perfect shape and sporting experience. To say that it is all about proportions is overly straightforward. In this example, I believe that the relatively flat top and base, rather conventional and stubby lugs, tall and horizontal sides with coined borders, along with the actually round dial are what make this watch work. The Breguet Quartz Watches Replica Heritage 5410 is made in both an 18k rose gold and 18k white gold case. For my hands-on demonstration I am wearing the 18k white gold version. The case dimensions really sound small, but as you can see, it doesn’t wear that modestly given the situation depth. The Breguet Heritage 5410 is 35mm wide, 42mm tall lug to lug, and 12.9mm thick. This watch may look a bit on the small side for quite large wrists, but for a small to medium wrist such as mine, it looks really nice. Moreover, the relatively thick and highly polished bezel adds welcome visual stimulation that I think helps the total form. It is possible to see that the entire situation is also curved, which allows it to wear very comfortably. The sapphire crystal can also be curved, but not more so than the situation itself, which preserves a feeling of visual harmony. When there are other well-done tonneau-shaped instances out there which flourish via different designs, Breguet gets tonneau right in their own different way. Of course, it isn’t a design for everyone, but with something that visually distinctive you clearly are not going to earn all audiences happy. The most intriguing portion of the Breguet Heritage 5410 is your dial, of course. Complication-wise that the timepiece is quite easy, offering the time with a subsidiary seconds dial and a huge date index window. Where things get interesting is that the specific style of the Roman numeral hour markers, as well as the in-house made guilloche-machine engraving that is once again excellent. The dial itself is produced from 18k gold, which can be tender and easy to cut, and then silvered once it is done.
Having unveiled the first ever Tradition for ladies not too long ago at Baselworld, Breguet has just announced another variant of the model for Baselworld 2017 that takes place in March next year.
While the first Tradition Dame 7038 was in white gold with a blue-grey mother of pearl dial, the latest version offers a rosier look. The case is 18k pink gold and the dial is an iridescent white mother of pearl decorated with hobnail guilloche in the centre.
The rest of the watch remains the same as the original model, with the 37mm case featuring a bezel set with 68 brilliant-cut diamonds and a crown topped with a synthetic ruby of the sort used in watch movements.
Plated in rhodium for a bright silvery finish, the movement is the calibre 505SR that’s automatic and equipped with the pallet fork and hairspring in magnetism-resistant silicon.
Price and availability
The new Tradition Dame 7038 should be available sometime in 2017. Though the price has not been announced, the first version cost US$38,900 or SS$55,900, so expect this to be priced similarly.
